Title: Tax Manager (“TM”)
The TM reports directly to the Tax Director and is accountable for: effectively
managing the preparation and review functions in support of the Company’s
various income and nonincome tax reporting and filing obligations (e.g., tax
returns, 10-K/Qs), and collaborating with the Accounting & Finance
(“A&F”) management team to improve/standardize processes and controls in
support of the tax function. Due to the current evolution of processes within
the organization (where different functions are recalibrating on a continuum of
decentralized and centralized approaches and in an environment of regulated and
nonregulated operations), the TM must be able to motivate/collaborate with a
variety of stakeholders, and build strong working relationships with all levels
of staff within the organization.
Summary of Responsibilities
The TM is responsible for providing strong leadership to a team of staff
supporting the TM’s job functions and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy
of work submitted from the TM’s team. The TM is responsible for ensuring that
Tax Department policies are consistently followed by all tax staff throughout
all areas of tax work product. The TM shares responsibility with the Tax
Director for building and maintaining a cohesive and highly-professional tax
working environment.

Job
Functions:
• Manage preparation of, and perform detailed review of:
- income tax provisions and related SEC footnote disclosures
- federal, state and local income tax return filings
- tax depreciation computations
- estimated tax payment computations
- tax projections, including ratemaking-related
- payroll deposits and return filings
- information return filings
- property tax filings
- transaction tax filings
- regulatory agency filings
• Monitor and continuously improve/standardize processes and controls; ensure
adherence to policies designed to maintain SOX compliance
• Work directly with accounting/finance management team and staff, outside
advisors and external tax and financial auditors
• Perform/review federal, state and local tax research in support of compliance
and planning
• Prepare/review tax-related correspondence
• Manage and/or assist with special projects
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or related discipline
• Master’s degree in tax preferred
• Ten years of experience performing complex corporate tax and accounting work,
including demonstrating strong FAS 109 tax accounting skills
• Knowledge of business tax compliance, including strong background in federal
and multi-state corporate income tax compliance (including
consolidation/combination) that includes preparation and review
• Experience in tax controversy work
• Utility experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications; advanced Excel skills preferred
• Five years of supervisory experience in Tax and Accounting
• Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills
Salary: 83,000 – 138,000, Total Exp: 10 yrs,
