Position Description:

- Opportunity to be responsible for domestic compliance (FAS109) issues. Will
participate in tax planning & assist Director with international taxation
issues
- Reasonable work hours (typically dept leaves at 6:30pm daily). Director
believes in reasonable balance of work & home life.
- Excellent management team in place. (Director has a Masters in Tax from USC
& a CPA with Big5 Public accounting background)
JOB SUMMARY:
Manager, Tax is required to develop, implement and monitor the methodology
required to meet all Federal and State Compliance requirements of client on a
timely basis and ensure that the company has accurate and adequate
documentation to support all declarations and meet all tax audit requirements.
Identify, research, and implement tax-planning strategies to reduce the tax
burden for the Corporation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supervise the preparation of the Federal consolidated tax returns, and all
State Income and Franchise Tax returns and quarterly tax accruals. This
encompasses the interface on all accounting matters with in the group to allow
the compliance work to proceed smoothly and efficiently.
• Supervise the preparation of all required Sales & Use and Property tax
returns of the group, and coordinate responses for all tax audits in these
areas.
• Identify, research and implement tax-planning strategies to minimize the
group tax burden. Interface with all other departments as needed to achieve
this objective.
• Prepare, analyze periodic group tax provisions and interface as required with
external auditors. Review tax reserves, and coordinate all Federal and State
tax payments.
• Coordinate and interface with Federal and State tax audits and assist in the
negotiation of settlements on all levels of taxation.
• Coordinate data collection and reporting requirements for all International
tax matters of the group. Work closely with the Tax Director in developing and
implementing all planning strategies in the domestic and international areas.
• Remain current on all relevant tax legislation that could affect group tax
liabilities.
• Directly supervises employee(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, prioritize
issues and efficiently utilize internal and external resources
• Has the responsibility and authority for controlling quality as delegated by
management.
• Has the responsibility and authority for controlling the Environmental
Aspects in his/her work area(s) and help comply with all the goals and
objectives of the EMS.
MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires a mix of technical skills as well as hands on practical experience
to effectively manage the group's tax needs. Must possess seasoned judgment and
the ability to work within a team oriented environment.
• Education and/or Experience - A Bachelors Degree in Accounting is required,
with a minimum of 7 years experience, CPA a plus.
