The Controller oversees and directs day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Job Costing and General Accounting.

The incumbent provides leadership and coordination of all company financial reporting, internal controls and SOX compliance and ensures company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.

Accountability:
Through the efforts of the Controller, all accounting procedures and functions are managed. Subsequently, the Controller must use the utmost discretion in all presentations, correspondence and communication for staff, Board of Directors and Company’s Senior Management Team by providing leadership to strengthen support for sound, ethical business practices at every level with the department. While the Controller has authority to establish financial policies and procedures, the Controller's role is to partner with the Vice President to design and implement programs and practices that establish an ethical environment and improve accountability and control in every area of the Company. This includes, responsibility to safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Controller's principal duties are to perform all required accounting functions of the company in a timely and accurate manner. In order to perform these principal duties the following must be properly fulfilled:
• Oversees and directs day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Job Costing, Consolidation and General Accounting
• Ensures accurate and timely preparation and distribution of the company’s internal and external financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting methods (“GAAP”), principles and practices
• Directs preparation of quarterly and annual reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in compliance with applicable rules and regulations
• Ensures accurate and timely preparation of reports required by appropriate regulatory and other authorities (CPUC, FERC and ACC)
• Analyzes new and/or unusual transactions and develops appropriate accounting treatment and/or alternatives in accordance to GAAP
• Reviews general ledger activity and balances; performs and/or directs the performance of monthly account analysis
• Prepares and maintains policies and procedures to ensure internal controls on financial reporting; ensures compliance with such policies and procedures
• Reviews and recommends proposals to ensure operation efficiencies and ensures financial plans are consistent with organizational goals
• Provides effective financial controls for the company
• Develops, improves and issue timely monthly financial records for all respective constituents within the company
• Provides financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary
• Assures that assets are not awkwardly encumbered with personal guarantees or unrealistic commitments
• Works closely with direct supervisor, Vice President, in the development and economic evaluation of various benefit programs for staff and program components
• Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related financial discipline; Masters degree highly desirable
• CPA required
• Ten years of experience in accounting preferably a minimum of seven in public accounting with minimum five years demonstrated experience in management of a multi-faceted accounting department/engagement team
• Minimum five years of SEC reporting experience for a publicly traded company
• J.D. Edwards System experience is preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Must possess advanced analytical skills
• Ability to execute instructions with minimum direction
• Proficient with other computer software systems for the preparation of reports, spreadsheets and other accounting analysis that may be required by management.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints
• Proven ability to work well independently and take initiative
• Ability to prioritize/execute multiple tasks with efficiency and a sense of urgency
• Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and financial
• Maintains an active interface with all staff; is visible and responsive to needs of all employees within span of control; creates strong morale and spirit in team
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
• Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
• Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work and as necessary to meet deadlines.
May include but not limited to standing, walking, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, lifting, reaching, stooping and crouching, color determination, typing, sitting, reading, speaking and listening.

Salary: $95,000 - $138,000,   Location: Claremont / Inland Empire
